GENERAL RULES

1. The maximum allowable car width is 1.3125" The maximum allowable car length is 3.00". The maximum allowable lateral movement of the front axle is 0.3124". The minimum allowable wheelbase is 1.375.

2. Newly released parts/components; including, but not limited to: armatures, magnets, chassis, etc. will not be legal for NYCONN competition until 30 days after said part/component has been declared as readily available and obtainable by the NYCONN Rules Committee, and has been made available for NYCONN member's inspection at a regularly scheduled NYCONN event.

3. All cars, chassis, parts, and components used for NYCONN competition shall be commercially mass produced for HO racing and readily available and obtainable to all members. HO racing components are required to advertise in national trade publications or over the internet.

4.  All cars must be equipped with four (4) tires which touch and roll when checked on a test track with no or low rails. If a car loses a wheel or axle during a race it may finish the segment without it, but the car must be repaired prior to the start of the next segment.

5.  Only one (1) guide pin per car will be allowed. Guide pins may be mounted anywhere within the original guide pin slot or hole.

6.  Axle bearings are not allowed unless otherwise specified.

7.  The body style must be a scale replica of an actual car. All bodies must be painted and cannot have any added air control devices. Except through legal openings, the body must cover the entire chassis when viewed from above. Bodies must be neatly trimmed so as not to remove any body details. If a body falls off during the course of a race, the driver must immediately stop and replace the body. Lap penalties will be imposed for continuing to race without a body. If a body becomes loose during the course of a race and is interfering with other cars the driver is responsible to stop and make the necessary repairs.

8.  All magnets must be stock and made from stock ceramic material only, unless otherwise specified. No freak or irregular magnets will be allowed. The number of armature magnets used per car cannot be more than two (2).

9.  During a race any individual part of the car may be replaced. The chassis and body are not considered replaceable parts. Bulkheads are not considered part of the chassis and may be replaced. The chassis and body entered cannot be substituted after qualifying or heat races.

10.  Each car will be impounded as it completes its race. All cars will remain in impound until released by the Race Director or Chief Tech Inspector. Cars entered in the "A-Main" will not be released from impound until the "BMain" is complete. All cars may be required to submit to a post-race tear down at the discretion of the Chief  Tech Inspector. Failure to comply, or to pass a post-race tear down will result in immediate disqualification. Entry fees will not be refunded to disqualified entrants and last place points shall be awarded if (DQed). Any protests must be made immediately to the NYCONN President or forgotten forever. The driver has the final responsibility to prove the legality of all equipment used at the track, including car and controller.

11.  All drivers are required to take their turn at Corner Marshaling. Drivers in the last round will marshal for drivers in the first round. After finishing the first round, the drivers completing said rotation will be responsible for marshaling the next group's race. Marshal substitutes are allowable, but it is the driver's responsibility to find a substitute. Failure to marshal when required to do so will result in lap penalties and possible disqualification. Substitute marshals must meet with the racers of that heat's approval.

12.  If a Marshal damages any car while replacing a de-slotted car on the track, the power and the time to the track will be turned off to allow the offended driver time to put the car back into running order, but with a time limit on the repairs equal to the length of the time of the segment being run.

13.  Track Calls will be kept to an absolute minimum and only used for bona fide Marshal Damage or when a car is off track and in an un-marshalable position. For instance, the Main Straight in front of the driver's stations may be a Track Call if the Marshals are unable to reach the affected car. If a car comes off the table and lands on the floor it is not considered a Track Call unless it cannot be immediately found by the Marshal. Track Calls should only be invoked by Corner Marshals. Drivers are not permitted to invoke Track Calls.

14. Any rules or discrepancies not covered in this rule book will be decided by the NYCONN Rules Committee. The committees decisions shall be based on a sense of fair play and any decisions made shall be final. The Rules Committee shall be the absolute authority on all matters of conflict.

TRACK AND EQUIPMENT RULES

1.  All tracks must have four (4) or more completely color coded lanes as defined below in operating condition.

4 Lane Track Recommended Configuration:

YELLOW (INSIDE LANE) - BLUE - WHITE - RED (OUTSIDE LANE)

Drivers Panel Layout:

YELLOW - BLUE - WHITE - RED

6 Lane Track Recommended Config1uration:

YELLOW (INSIDE LANE) - BLUE - ORANGE - GREEN - WHITE - RED (OUTSIDE LANE)

Drivers Panel Layout

YELLOW - BLUE - ORANGE - GREEN - WHITE - RED

WHITE: Positive power from the power source.

BLACK: Connects to the left rail of the car as viewed from above in the direction of travel.

RED: Brake hook-up, connects to the right rail of the car and the negative side of the power source

Recommended Driver Station Configuration

WHITE - BLACK - RED

3.  All tracks used for NYCONN competition must have clearly marked track sections for determining the number of sections run at the end of the race. It is encouraged that these sections be marked off in equal increments of lap length.

4.  The track must be powered by an appropriate power source capable of delivering 18.0 +/- .05 volts DC at a minimum of six (6) amps per lane as measured across the White (power) and Red (brake) terminals at the control panel for each lane. The track must also have sufficient power taps to reduce surges when one (1) or more cars de-slot.

5.  All tracks must be equipped with a reliable automatically tripped lap counter. NYCONN recommends LANEMASTER as the official timing and scoring system. In all situations the lap counters are considered correct unless it can be proved otherwise. The lap counter track section must be clearly marked.

6.  Only the track power may be used to power the cars.

7.  New track owners wishing to get a race date on the NYCONN schedule must first:

a. Be members in good standing

b. Attend at least two-thirds (2/3) of the season's fourteen (14) races.

c. Hold a warm-up session or shakedown race prior to the coming season.

This will allow NYCONN to determine if the track is ready to hold championship races in the coming season. (Established raceways may be exempt at the Rules Committee's discretion.)

8.  All tracks must have sufficient crash barriers or bridges to contain de-slotted cars in the local area where the car left the track surface. Bridges are strongly recommended and encouraged before the "Main Straight" and before the "Lap Counter" section. Bridge clearance should be no more than 1" inch high and low enough to prevent cars that are other then perpendicular to the surface of the track from passing beneath them. Retaining walls shall be at least 3" inches high, and padded in all impact zones.

9.  In order to maintain track eligibility for NYCONN events, track owners must be members in good standing, and have attended at least half (1/2) of the previous season's races. Extenuating circumstances may be taken into account, but at the discretion of the Rules Committee.
